The mission of Innovadores is to promote Cuban development by connecting Cuban innovators with the global entrepreneurial community.
Innovadores traces its history to a chance meeting between John Caulfield, a career US diplomat and head of the US Interests Section in Cuba from 2011-2014, and Miles Spencer, an American entrepreneur and investor.
The two wondered if their mix of international diplomacy, entrepreneurial know how and real-world understanding of Cuba could prove a simple hypothesis: That is, if they provided Cuban innovators with resources and opportunities, could technology, design and entrepreneurship flourish in Cuba?
They were quickly joined on-the-ground by Jonathan Matusky, an engineer and Carnegie Mellon MBA who began working closely with the most promising Cuban innovators.
As Innovadores built its network in Cuba, it also began connecting international entrepreneurs, owners and investors with the most promising opportunities on the island.
We now serve as a key resource for both Cubans and Americans interested in starting projects in Cuba and provide resources and mentorship to Cuban innovators free-of-cost through our partner non-profit, the Innovadores Foundation.
